Summer "vacation"

First of all, I need to say that I love being a mom, and I am especially proud to be Monica's mom. She is a wonderful, sweet little girl. If it weren't for her, there are sooooo many things and people that Shawn and I would have never known existed.

However, It is NOT EASY to have a child with a disability. Actually, sometimes it is extra difficult and quite overwhelming. I can't even begin to count the number of things Monica has broken, torn apart, lost, cut (her hair), etc., and that's just in the past 3 days. She is becoming more independent. It's impossible to keep an eye on her all day long.

We are blessed with supportive friends and family, but sometimes I think they are so used to Monica that they forget her disability. Of course, that's usually a good thing. It's hard to explain to those who don't have a special needs child. Others depend on us for our time and resources, and they don't understand why we don't always have the time or energy to help.

Sorry, I just had to spill a little bit. If I don't do that every once in a while, I may literally explode, then who would clean up that mess? :D

  1. Please feel free to vent! Also, would you be willing to post about Monica's early days, such as diagnosis, etc.
